1967 MB Tex material

I have a 1967 250 SL that I have owned for 20+ years.
It's china blue with navy blue MB Tex that is different from the MB Tex I see in later 280 SLs. It is much smoother and doesn't have the grain pattern that the newer MB Tex has.
The car was originally sold in France and imported to the US in the 1980's and was repainted once but the seats look old and original, but I am no expert.
Could someone shed some light on MB Tex thru the ages.
thanks
jz
