new wax?or get a buffer?

here's my dilemma:i have the mothers three phase wax system.the only reason i don't use it any more(i use meg's gold class) is that my arm is dying by the end of it all!for this reason i was thinking of going to the zaino process.i have since found the porter cable 7224 orbital polisher.should i stick with the mother's and buy the buffer or go to the zaino stuff?

Both. i use orbital buffer with zaino products. keep in mind with zaino, you need to add multiple coats. Z5 about 3 times, then Z2 3 times. so thats six times you are going over your car NOT including prepolishing with swirl remover or griots machine polish 3. My arms and back get very tired of this after a while.

You can skip coats and do only 2 coats of zaino but the results will not be as good.

How exactly do you use the orbital polisher with the Zaino products? To apply it, to buff it off? With which products, Z5 and Z2? Zaino's instructions on their web site seem to recommend all be done by hand. It would be nice to confirm some machine assist is possible. Also, what speed do you use on the polisher?

Well this is what I do:

Before using Zaino products, I use swirl remover or griots machine #3 with orbital buffer set around 4-6, depending on how much and deep the swirls are.

then wash car with dawn and dry

then use Z-5 1 or 2 times by HAND. because with Z5 its supposed to be straight lines, not orbital. So using an up down or side to side motion do Z5

Then with Z2, use an orbital. wet the foam pad with water or zaino spray. set to 4-5, then apply z2 on the pad like pancake syrup and spread it over the pad, then go to work.

Oribital allows you to work faster, more complete, last longer, etc. so so many benefits to using an orbital

Thanks, this is great news knowing some machine assist is possible. I have not tried Zaino yet but comments like yours have me looking forward to the day I do!
