W140 (300SD) odometers not working

Hi guys,

The odometers (mileage and trip) on my 93 300SD haven't worked since I got the car. I bought a set of replacement gears on Amazon and followed these instructions to replace them, but it unfortunately didn't correct the issue. They still don't do anything.

I'm wondering if there's a way to test the little motor that runs the odometers. Can you just put 12v to it and see if things start turning?

The odometer assembly:

And the motor and one side of the gears:

Usually its the rod that goes thru the gears that
Gets worn smooth. Follow one of the pictorials
To scuff the rod that the gears ride on.
Not sure about 12v, Im not that capable

oldsiners so did i .Replace a few in the past but never done the 12 volt type more involved thats not in the view to the eye. I think you need to get it repaired or replace with another one with the same number as your head unit ,ie the number on the speedo head.must be the same ..
