1997 300TD - driver seat repair/replacement.

Hello. The PO said that he'd taken the car to a detailer who somehow jammed the seat in a forward position. Not knowing what to do, he removed the seat and replaced the bottom with a regular non power bottom and bolted the back on to it.

I'd like to recover the functionality of the drivers seat and get some reclining action if possible. So I asked him for the old seat bottom and what he gave me was a seat frame with all the wires cut.

Does anyone have a detailed DIY or some instructions on how to test the seat bottom to see if it works? FYI, the car has a button for heated seats. Would be nice to have this work too. Fwiw, I can't see any heating element on the seat. Here are some pictures.

zu!, recommend taking a look at the underside of the front passenger seat to see how it's wired. As far as I know, both front seats in a 1997 E-Class have power adjustments. The explanation the PO gave doesn't make much sense. Why wouldn't the PO have insisted that the detailer repair the power seat adjustments? Not too many folks would accept their car back damaged.

Oh crap...I just realized my mistake. Sorry folks, my car is an 1987 300TD. 10 years difference! Yes, the PO's explanation doesn't hold water, but what could I say to him...anyway, I liked the car so much I bought it thinking it would be an easy fix.

That's until he gave me the seat bottom unit and I see all the wires cut!!
