grease on carpets

After taking my car to get an emissions test, there were gease stains on my carpets ( new mats too) . does anyone have a suggestion as to what to use to remove? How quickly should I get to work on this? (I'm leaving for a two week vacation in one day...
Thanks,
Kathy

1.) Make the shop clean them (yeah sure, they'll admit it)

2.) Isopropyl alcohol has worked best for me when I've neglected to put in my little paper mats. Test an inconspicuous place first! I use old white "T" shirt rags for this type of cleaning and scrub. FWIW.

3.) Enjoy vacation

Kathy,

I would attend to it before leaving for vacation. I believe the longer grease remains on the carpets the more difficult it becomes to remove it.

I have personally used Dry Clean with great success. Make sure to test it first on a small area.

I always use two cloths, one to remove majority of the grease and the second to get it perfect.

You should be able to find Dry Clean in any auto store such as Pep Boys, Napa, Kragen etc. I've occassionally seen it in Walmart but don't count on it.

Meguiars carpet cleaner, soak it, scrub it, and rinse. if floor mats take them out and pressure wash them, use a brush too.

if inside of the car use a steam cleaner

Lightbulb Kitty Litter and Simple Green!

Cover the grease with a layer of kitty litter while your away, most of the wet oil/grease will be absorbed, vacuum it up without rubbing it into the carpet nap. With most of the actual oil/grease absorbed and gone, Simple Green is a very good cleaner for this type of grime. Spray it on a clean rag and then wipe the carpet, spray and wipe until gone, wipe the grime only once and then use a clean section of rag so as not to spread any grime around. Good Luck!
