Hi the car is a 260e W124 1989 .From day one i have thought on how i could cover the bear trunk lid. It spoils the car I know that early cars did not have the moulded trim .In 1990 the trim was fitted after Mercedes had a think about how to make it look nice.Well i purchased one before i knew this.My trunk lid as no round holes to push the clips in to , to support it ,only slots. The moulding as no holes .The clips are fixed in as its moulded on the rear Can i ask if any one on the forum as updated his trunk lid to new specs .Or any information on how to fix it in without screws.

Hi. I have the same issue. I have 1988 300CE which came without holes or any fittings for the trim. So I picked a trim from 1994 coupe and now I am thinking between cutting holes though or removing the plastic brackets at the back of the trim and glue the whole thing to the lid

Panserezha i fixed the moulding and it is easy to do Put it in place ,hold it in with the triangle safety sign. Get it central and i drilled 6 holes and used plastic rivets .You need the same drill to fit the rivet ,it must be a tight fit.So make a few holes in a plate with drill bits then see if the rivet is a knock in fit.As you hit the dowel in the rivit it will open up and lock it in the hole. Now look out for wires inside the trunk lid for the number plate light if it is like mine. The trunk lid light switch has a hole for it but no holes for bubber buffers that stop it banging as you close the trunk lid.I cut them out after i could see their location in the moulding.I used a hole cutter to put the hole in .The clips on the back of the moulding need to be removed first .Or they will rub the trunk lid ,and not sit flat I did try to fit rivets in the location of plastic fixing on the moulding..Any more help needed ask.

Glue is ok , but the trunk gets hot in the hot weather so i did not use the glue idea.

Oh it did not come to my mind. Good point.

Maybe I should use commercial grade velcros here and there
