'85 W123 interior color match

Hi,
I have an '85 300d with a blue interior. According to my option plate the code is 252, which depending on which reference I look up, seems to indicate that my car originally had leather seats in "blue" or "dark blue". (Looks like when the previous restoration was done, they decided to use MB-tex seats)

I am in the process of replacing the dash. The dash that came with the car is a black 240D dash that has been spray painted (poorly) to match the rest of the interior. I have a black dash in good condition from the junkyard. My plan is to dye that dash to match my interior color, but I'm trying to avoid the extra cost of having a custom color made.

My question is, does anyone know what the MB-tex color code would be for this car? Or which of these colors would match? (From the dye seller's website)

452 Blue 81-99
522 Blue 80's

Contact a company called Color Plus in Milford, Pa. They have the correct blue dye for the dash. Use my name (Bill Whitmore) as I have ordered this dye a couple of times. The dye is an exact match and is very easy to apply (preferred method is to profesionally spray). You will need one pint. The key is to thoroughly clean the dash (never use lacquer thinner as it will turn the vinyl gooey), using a good cleaner (409), rinsed with water. It is also OK to lightly sand the dash with a 400 sandpaper. The dye is very durable. Color Plus has a website.

Great! Thanks. It looks like they only sell #452 - Blue, I'll call them in a bit, but did you have it custom made? If not, I can assume it was 452.
Have you tried their filler material by chance?

It was not custom made. I have used their filler and it worked very well for small cracks. It is sort of like spackle. Be sure and use my name as they keep records of products sold to their customers and that way you will get the correct blue. I dyed a dash about 10 years ago and still looks great.

I just checked and I still have the can. The re-order number is 2938 Blue. I have also used their products to dye both MB tex and leather seats. On the seats I applied the dye using a soft bristle brush - no brush marks, dries in 30 minutes, easy clean up with water, and very very durable.

Great! Thank you very much. I just talked to them, they are going to send me a color swatch to be sure, then I'll order what I need.
Thanks again!
