Swapping front seats '83 300cd

Is it possible to switch the drivers & passengers seats on my 300CD??

I have a CD passenger seat from the local pick-n-pull, newer seat upolstery doesn't match, old one (leather) is falling apart, <- I dont care about this, I just want a 'comfortable' seat.

I couldn't find a link here for this issue, , ,

The seats do not interchange because of the seat controls (forward and back and the tilt knob) are on the opposite side plus the arm rest. It is possible to move the passenger side bottom cushion onto the driver's side seat frame and you can do the same with the back cushion but you will not have an armrest.

I have never used the armrest anyways, so no big loss there. Its the bottom that needs replacing, its in sad shape.

It's fairly easy to remove the seat spring assembly and swap it between seats - another option is to swap out individual spring wires between two seat spring assemblies. This is a bit more trouble, but if you have two seats with broken individual coils, you may be able to combine them into one complete seat. I highly recommend you add in the foam inserts to the front corners of the seat if yours doesn't have them. Apparently a pool noodle will work in a pinch, but I bought some correct parts from the dealer, I believe for a w126 (i think they were ~$10-12 each, two per seat. Here's a write-up I did - Seat repair alternative technique (w123 and similar seats)
Top tip: if you do decide to dismantle the seats, try a 17mm wrench or socket to depress the 4 locking tabs that hold the plastic trim to the sides of the seat.
