Top Of Drivers Door Panel Crack Fix?
I have a 1991 350 SDL (126 body) with a small crack in the drivers door panel where you rest your arm. Upholstry shop says the only fix is repalcement of the outer panel (Mecedes part only), cost $458 parts, plus $145 labor. $600 seems a little much to me.
Does anyone make some sort of add on cover to fix this problem or are there other fixes short of replacing the part. Shop says they could do a patch if I was selling the car but it would not last long. Thank you. |

I found a matching color one for my 126 at the local dismantlers for $75. Very good condition for sun-baked SoCal. Worth a try.

I bought a repair kit at Pep Boys to fix mine, $9. It can make it look better, but as soon as the Texas sun got to working on it, it shrunk and craks are visable again.
Look in the yellow pages under leather and vinyl repair. A good tech can do it right for $50-$75.
