Changing color of leather seats, W126
My old 300SD had what I believe is called a 'tobacco brown' interior, dark brown at any rate. I found some cherry front seats from a '91 gasser in that color at Pick And Pull just after I had major engine trouble and bought them thinking I could use them. Never did get it running and I eventually sold the seats at a good profit to a guy who said he was going to strip the color and dye them the color he wanted.
Has anyone done this? In the last few weeks I've found three front seats near immaculate and all in gray. I'm looking for the light tan. I'm probably dreaming, would be a lot of work anyway.

I have dyed both leather and MB Tex seats using products made by Color Plus a company in Milford, Pa. Their dyes are water based , apply easily by either spray or using a soft bristle brush (leaves no brush marks). The key to a good dye job is preparation including a good citrus based cleaner to clean the soil out of the material and even lightly sanding the leather or vinyl. Their dyes are extremely durable and being water based makes for an easy clean up. They can also match colors and have a rainbow of stock colors. Their dyes run about $100 per quart which should do all seats in the car. The owners name, if I remember correctly is Diane. Good luck with your project

Sounds good but did you somehow remove the existing color?

The dye job that I did was a light color over a light color. In the case of a light color over a dark color that could present some problems with coverage. I would recommend that you get in touch with Color Plus (they have a web site www.colorplus.com) They can tell you the limits of coverage of their dyes.
