Your favorite detailing products?
What are your favorite products for detailing (brands and/or specific products) and why? I did a quick search and did not see that specific inquiry.

Armorall. Have used it for 35 years and still like it.

I put Simple Green industrial (it's purple in color) in a spray bottle and got the carpet pretty soaked. Waited about 10 minutes for it to soak in.
Then used a cheap upholstery hot water vac with only hot water in it (no other cleaning chemicals) and cleaned it normally. Looks like new. The water was the blackest I've ever seen. Then I got a ozone generator for about $80 (Enerzen 3500mg) and ran it with a window cracked for two cycles. The funky old car smell is almost gone. I have the ozone generator running in my house now (no pets) just to freshen the place up. |

Wax - Good Ole Turtle Wax, straight wax no cleaner mixed with hot water and applied with a soft cloth, machine buffed. Plastic interior parts - Armorall, just not the glossy finish believe its called natural. Used Groits Garage leather cleaner for years until I was offered a BOGO on Peak leather conditioner. Stuff is amazing and never went back.

What does one use for external black plastic?

For any black plastic trim, underhood dust covers, rubber, etc. I have used both Einzett 1Z and Wurth silicone-free rubber care (particularly if it's part of the body that may be repainted at some point, to reduce the chance of fisheyes from any silicone residue).
I treat the weatherstripping that sees the outdoors twice a year, winter and summer (sometimes twice in the summer), and all other seals at least once a year. |

Meguiars ceramic wax after using their yellow car wash has been giving good results. It seems like the ceramic version gives longer protection but maybe less shine than their Gold Class??? Did a 27' RV and two coats on an F250 with 1/3 bottle remaining.
Also very satisfied with using clay before the wax if needed.

Thanks to both of you!
I have a new Mercedes (2019) and you can eat off of it almost. I only let drinking water in the car. No eating in it. Still smells new! Are either product you both recommend good for painted panels? Sounds like it but want to make sure. Wife has black trim pieces on her Honda Pilot and I can’t figure out what to put on it either that lasts more than a few weeks at best so I may use it there also. |

Not sure what you mean by painted panels. If it is black plastic I think the Meguiar's ceramic is specifically NOT for those. I'd probably use 303 Aerospace Protectant on black plastic panels. Their marine and car product are the same.
Since you have such a nice new car if you haven't done so already do some research on how to wash a car. There are lots of "common sense" methods that can be ramped up by tips from others. Simple things like no nylon mitts, a rinse bucket for the mitt to keep grit out of the soap, wash from top surfaces first working to the lowers last etc... Good luck!!!
