Questions about prep on vinyl for paint.
Would acetone clean mercedes vinyl without causing harm?
I have a 5lb bag of critic acid. I only need half that to do the engine cooling system flush. Could the remainder or some of the remainder be use to clean this vinyl? How strong would be recommended to mix critic acid for prepping vinyl to paint? I'm using the expensive paint and buying a hplv gun to apply it. I just want to do all this correctly and only once. Suggestions? Recommendations?

Acetone worked well for me. Also there is a product that sort of etches the vinyl for the paint to get a grip on it. I casnt remember the name. Its made by SEM i believe.

It's SEM plastic and leather prep. It is not recommended for vinyl but it worked great on the plastic. I'll report how it works on leather when I'm finished with the project.

Just don't rub too hard on the vinyl with the acetone. Works well. The paint I used did not look good on the vinyl so i took it back off with the acetone and it was nice and clean looking. The paint looked nice on the carpet for a couple of years. All in all I think a carpet set would have been more worthwhile.
