Based on advice I read somewhere, I have tried Testor's Model Paint on both the inside and outside of the red reflectors, and neither looked good. I have tried a yellow-orange paint on the turn signals and it also didn't look good. I unfortunately gave up trying to refurb my w115 reflectors and lights and decided to replace a few of them (and just live with faded plastic on the others).
For the brakelight reflectors, I read somewhere that a glossy white paint is actually more reflective than the chrome/shiny spray paints. I don't know if that is true or not, but I used white paint on my reflectors and it looks just fine once the lens is over it.
