I have recently stared using the micro fiber towels and they work great. Here's what I do, After washing, take the nozzle off the hose and turn the water down so that the water shoots out about 6" before it bends. Then, start at the roof and float a sheet of water on the whole roof, then work your way down and across the rest of the car. If you have a good coat of wax, 80% of the water will sheet off the car.
Then take a damp chamois (I use a syntheteic, less residue) and starting at the roof again, wipe the area, then buff it with the micro fiber towel. It works amazingly well and is fast. Best of all, no scratches. Look for micro fiber towels that are NOT made in China, Korea is OK. The Chinese ones don't absorb as well.

For 100% Cotton, I like to use Charisma & Royal Velvet.

Re: William are those name brands
Quote:
Charisma Royal Velvet Only buy WHITE towels and not colored towels because the dye may leave a chemical residue on the paint. And of course, wash the towels before using. Use Liquid detergent (don't use Bleach or any fabric softener). Run the rince cycle twice to make sure all detergent come out. I fold the towel in a way that the the hard edges do not touch the paint. If you want to play safe, you can cut the borders off but the towel will start to fray a little. If you want, you can re-sew it with 100% cotton thread to avoid fraying.
