De-badge
So I went out about a half an hour ago to take off the plastic cheesy dealership flag, and ended up debadging the car.
I had read a lot about people liking the cleaner look, and Alon praised it so much I felt like I had no choice while I was out there with the floss. It looks GREAT debadged, the car looks wider and lower somehow. I don't know how, but it does. Thanks fellas, just wanted to drop a line on how satisfied I am with the "new" look. |

De-Badge?
sorry, relatively new to some of the terminology, what does de-badge mean? and how does it make the car look that much different.

Removing the 300E/400E/etcE from the back - an easy job. I took mine off because it was on slightly crooked. Liked it off so didn't put it back. (actually does make it look wider.)
debadging the rear, and doing the grill matte black plus Euro lights make the car look a lot newer, IMHO.

Is it an easy job to do?
Is it hard to do?
I finally removed the grill and painted it matt black, also took out the vertical chrome strips, and added 500e code lights...looks sweet! I want to take out the 300e badge on the back. Is it difficult to do? (I installed the lights, including the vacuum set up, but those were easy upgrades....I'm afraid of messing up the paint). Does it require the use of a heat gun? Did you have to get it touched up? Is it as simple as using a hair blow-dryer, heating it up a little, and passing through fishing line behind it to pull it off? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, -Tony here is a pic of my dirty car, but I had finally installed the lights, vacuum setup, and painted the grill. |

Fishing line, dental floss, fingernails, anything but a screwdriver

I have heard people recommend gently heating the inside of the trunk with a hair dryer, then using fishing line like floss.
The letters are held on by a strip of adhesive, so flossing just cuts through the tape and the letter comes right off. The adhesive left on the car is easily removed either by fingernail or by adhesive remover liquid. I had a couple of nasty little stains, but WD-40 and polish cleaned them out after a good twenty minutes of rubbing..... WELL WORTH THE HALF-HOUR, let me assure you. |
