Paint?
Hello,
I have a 1972 280se 4.5 MB. Now my question the car has some paint chips and cracks all around. Should I just fill the hole with paint, or should I let the whole car repaint. the car is white. thank you. cK |

Quote:
If you have the original 30-yr old paint and you just get the repaired section painted with the original paint code, it will not match the rest of the car. Good body shops can "blend", but it really depends on how much you want to spend. You did mention having "cracks and chips all around", which to me, would warrant a total repaint. Body prep is the most labor-intensive part of the job, so the current condition of the body will determine how much it will cost to do the work. The quality of paint and number of paint (and clear) layers to apply will determine the remainder of the cost. Body shops vary widely on pricing, so I can't give you any hard figures. Shop around and see what kind of vehicles are being worked on and look at some finished results before you settle on any shop...
