92' 400SE Paint Job

Hey everyone... I'm afraid to even ask it, but i think it's time for me to get a new paint job done. I just got my dad's 92' 400SE when he got a 01' S500... but unfortunently he's not a car freak, and just used the car and kept it maintained... however the paint suffered and now it seem past rehabilitation. I'm in the west los angeles area and thinking of just getting a Brilliant Silver, paint job, and need to get those micro dents everywhere too... anyone got a place they like? and can anyone guesstimate a quote? I'm afraid to even see the price! 17 year old student here... not exactly the big wallet that the previous owner had :-)

I've heard that the going price for a really good paint job is around $3K. Though others might do it for less I think it's important to think of the long term. I'd also consider keeping it the stock color.

Any body shop should be able to take out all of those dings. They usually contract out to "paintless dent removal" specialists. You might look at hiring one of them yourself first. Might save some $. I had this done to a Miata I once had. Totally worth it! This guy charged by the panel - I think it was something like $45 per panel. He did most of my car so he gave me a discount. Sorry but it was several years ago and I no longer have his card - wish I did since my wife "took over" my 92 Q45. That poor car now looks like the surface of the moon!

A paint job on a ten year old car, seems really fishy. Get a full detail on your car by a professional. Or you can do it yourself. Go buy a clay bar, polish, wax and some car wash soap and invest a weekend. MB paint is the best out there and it should last a long time. Was your car garaged or was it parked outside. If it was garaged, I highly doubt that you need to paint the entire car. 5-6k was a quote that I got from a dealer once I was looking at a 92 400se a year ago. (Decided it was a waste of time) If I were you, I would forget about the outside because once your evaporator breaks down, you will need to invest 2-3k to fix it. So save your money and forego the paint job right now. Just think about this, paint on the outside or ac in the inside.
