paint protector

I have just got hold of some adhesive clear plastic paint protectors called Altrex and having paid for it, found out that it cannot be put on newly painted surfaces like my front hood and bumper bar. Recommended by the manufacturer as 6 months after for the paint to cure. What about brand new cars? Some are on the roads before this time only a few weeks from the factory door? If you have to wait for 6 months, surely the paint would be damaged even before the protection is applied? Do I have to leave my car in the garage for the next 6 months or wait till all the trucks are off the roads before driving off? Sounds like they are trying to avoid being sued for paint damage caused by the adhesive, not stone chips.

I was told the same thing by the paint shop when I wanted to put the film on the freshly sprayed panels below my headlights (but they said 2-3 months). The shop said new cars were 'cured' at higher temps and had less of a problem than re-sprays, as the temp on the latter had to be lower because the body couldn't cook higher than the max temp of the most sensitive electrical, plastic, or insulation component on the car,. The car body at the factory is dipped or electrstatic painted prior to assembly, and could cook hotter, they said.
