1994 E320... What is Leather?

Ok, I've got a '94 E320.

I'm trying to figure out what parts are leather, and what parts are some type of synthetic.

Dash?
Steering Wheel?
Seats?
Headliner?

Is this leather dyed or painted?

My seats are in some serious need of work, and I'm tyring to figure out the appropriate way to attack it.

Thanks.

Most automobile leather is covered with a flexible coating. You are probably seeing cracks at some of the areas which are flexing the most. Often the side seat bolster takes a lot of abuse.

I refinished mine a couple years ago and still looks good. It's easy; like painting your house, the key is preparation.

Look up colorplus.com and request a free brochure. It'll tell you a LOT about how auto. leather is made and how to care for it.

This Colorplus company carries standard MB colors so NO custom mixing costs ...

If you search on this, you'll also hear about Leatherique. They also make a fine leather dye and other products, but they DO charge for matching colors (other than black).

I used Leatherique and it seems like a good product but they can NOT match the dark grey in a 95 - 140. After two tries, I gave up. It was way too light.

Question While we're at it

How about a 97 E420? I know my wife's 90 300SE has more leather surfaces than my car does. I wouldn't want to use a leather cleaner/conditioner on vinyl (or the like) or vice versa.

BTW, does that hurt anything?
