Dye used interrior parts to match

Dye used interror parts at the parts yard to match your car.

Sem Color Coat Flexible Coating available at NAPA or Car Qwest.

Shadow Blue matches my Navy Blue Interrior on the 1982 300sd

Dries to a matt finish like the original that will not crack or peel off.

Did you use the dye on leather or MB tex. I have leather seats that need to be changed from burgandy to blue. Can this be done on a seat?

I used on mb tex

I used this dye on mb tex. It will work on leather too. I would test a small area - you must clean off all silicone like Armor all to get coating to take.

This SEM dye is so much less expensive than the specialty dye that you buy at upholstery shops online. In fact, a local upholstery shop told me about the product.

Looks good.

http://www.vinylpro.com

These guys carry most all the colors if you can't find it locally. SEM Aerosol has been a favorite of the wrecking yards for years.

The 15393 med. gray matched the grey interior of my 1984 300SD.

SEM Cordovan brown color matches Brazil

I have an 84 300SD with the "Brazil" interior and used SEM flexible paint to darken up my rear package tray which had faded to a dingy shade of tan. The SEM cordovan brown color was a very close match and it looks great now.

dpbrowne , That can be done... but from one dark color to another you might need to go to white first.

It is always best on any kind of this stuff to pick an area which will not show and test what you plan on using...

To match the rest of the car the problem is often that the welt ( little tubing between sections ) is a different color... so the cleaning and giving the surface a ' gripping ' texture and then Not spraying the welt is a real pain.. not easy to tape off a welt ... but can be done...
Colors that penetrate into the object should be called Dye...and Colors that stay on top should be called Paint. This will help when talking to any supplier.

Well isn't that just dandy! I just ordered SEM from an upholstry shop at $18 a can!

How much is NAPA getting? Do they carry the complete line, or do they do an overnight for your order? BB

Napa

Busy Benz, Napa is about $12-13 per can. Car Qwest had more selection, but napa had a good one!

Leatherique for re-coloring

I replaced the armrest in my creme beige interior with the lift top model from a '94-95 124. The arm rest came from Potomac German and was gray. I changed it to creme beige and also bought the mini roll top console which sits on the o.e. console. It was black from a totalled 500E. I also changed that to creme beige. At the same time I sent my console wood to Heritage Woodworks and it came back betterthan new. P.

Does the SEM dye make leather stiff and hard? Does it really stick, or flake off? I want to restore the seats, etc, but I also want them soft and pliable.
Any user comments?

Randy,

I sprayed all the interior fascia pieces in my slc with off white SEM and it looks as new. I checked the can and there is no number on it so I guess you would just have to go to the store and check out which one matches.

I cleaned the pieces with soap and water, let them dry, and gave them 2 or 3 coats. Clean your hands or use plastic gloves when you reinstall them since every little smudge will show up.

Which Napa/C-Quest Will? Anything close to palimino? I have an off color med kit, and a pari of surface mount BMW speakers I want to put in the rear that look to be really slick, but are black..

I was just wondering what SEM paint matches Palomino.
SEM also sells Sand Free (38353) and Plastic Prep (38353) - local auto paint supplier was out of the latter. Has anyone tried these if so do you think either of these products would be necessary if the base material is clean? I want to repaint a first aid cover on the back deck of a 123.

Don't tell me, tobaco/brown cover with palimino interior? If so it would be the third of that combo I've seen, strange..

And I still want the little first aid sticker!!
