get yourself some microfiber towels

im sure its been said before, but...

i just picked up some microfiber towels, and these things are GREAT!!! they are not THAT expensive, and they clean like heck.

on glass, they clean like nothing ive ever seen before. they pick up everything and leave VERY little lint residue. what little is left will blow right off.

the ones i got were at walmart that are packaged 2 (sometimes bonus 3 packs) for less than $5. they are approx 12"x16"

i now plan to get some bigger ones to use as final wipers for exterior after washing and waxing. im sure they will work wonders there as well.

I use them on the car windows also - best thing I've found. I also use them in the kitchen. They leave wine glasses completely smudge and lint free, and fast too.

Is/ are there brand names for these 'microfiber' towels? I spend much of my time cleaning my small fleet (only 5 vehicles) and would like to try these towels. Thanks for the information.

MF towels

the ones at walmart were labeled "NicSand". they are good... but, im sure that the others offered at some of the auto detailing sites on the web MAY be higher quality. they also offer the larger ones on the web that i am going to get. i cant remember the specific sites i found before, but just yahoo search "micro fiber towels"

You can get them at any good hardware store even the "Marts" as in K and Wal. Just remember, you can wash them in the washing machine, but don't put any cotton fabric items in there with them. Lint City!

I understand they do vary in quality. I got mine from Griot's.

Meguiars sells a very nice Microfiber towel. They aren't too large but one is nearly enough to remove all of the wax from a vehicle. They are unique because they have small squares that actually trap dirt / wax....whatevers on the surface and it keeps it away from the paint.

They gave us a free set at the clinic and I know when I need more I'll be buying them.

You'll find them in any good automotive store.

I think I saw some at Costco today. They were amazingly smooth compared to the terry towels. I think I will pick some up tomorrow. BTW, I'm in California. Livermore to be precise.

[slightly off topic]

Once you've removed wax from the car with this or any other towel, will simply washing it in the washing machine clean it well enough to use again in waxing/polishing the car?

wash seperately as normal. no bleach or softner.
they will pick-up the lint from anything else in load.

do NOT use static sheet in dryer.
you could line dry, but softer in dryer.

I was in Target today and saw a large micro-fiber towel for sale, so buoght it. I tried it out on the windshield and, yes, it works GREAT! What's more, it nearly matches the interior of my car exactly, so I can lay it on the floor without it making the interior of the car appear unkempt!

Question Which blend ?

Yesterday I didn't know what a Microfiber towel was.
Now I cannot wait to buy some.

I want to know should I get the 80/20% blend or the 70/30% blend? I don't know which is perferred or if it makes any difference but noticed these are the two major blends...

I recently picked up a package of twelve 16 X 16 inch microfiber towles at Costco for $8.69. They are the 80%, 20% variety. Have only used them so far for doing the windows and they are fabulous.

I have seen these listed for much more than I paid. Don't know what the difference in quality is.
