under the front seats

i am interested in giving my car a very good detailing job, as it is getting warmer. today i tried and failed to take out the front seats on the 84 300td... the front bolts seem obvious but i cant find access to the rear bolts. I want to clean all the old crud out of there but im afraid i'll have to go under the car to take out the seats.

is there another way to do it?

Be sure you move both the fore/aft lever AND the seat height adjuster. The latter enables the rear bolts to be exposed. Don't forget to lift and move the whole seat forward enough to get the seat belt track bar to be removed before taking the whole seat out of the car.

It is also a good time to vacuum and lube both seat tracks. Makes a big difference in ease of adjusting. They are supposed to actually slide effortlessly!
