What To Clean Door Jambs with?
Can someone suggest a good cleaner and method for cleaning dirty door jambs?
I don't want to get a cleaner on the interior of the car but I would also like to use a product that removes the accumulated grime. Haasman

I use a quick detailer on my door jams (Meguiars Final Detail). It's an excellent way to remove accumulated dirt. It won't harm the plastic door sills and actually helps clean and improve the rubber.
If your hinges are very very greasy you might want to use diluted simple green first. Spray the simple green on a damp cloth and wipe it onto the oily areas. Make sure to wipe with a second cloth that only has been dampened with water. Finish with the quick detailer and lubricate with a light silicone or teflon if necessary. Another note, if the dirt is heavy use multiple rags, one to remove the first layer, a second to get nearly everything off and a final one as a detailing step. This will prevent clear coat scratching and provide a descent shine.

I use Meguiar's "Quik Detailer" it really lowers the friction between the dirt and the paint, AND it smells good. And I believe Door jambs is the correct spelling
A clean car is better than proper spelling anyway

hi
in all seriousness you may want to try wd40. i use this to detail my engine compartment. won't hurt paint, cuts right thru grease, doesn't smell bad and it can be a lube at the same time. tks craig

Well I won't argue that WD-40 won't work because I know it will. When I worked for a bike shop way back when we always used to suggest this to clean chains, the frame and cables. Lubrication is a different story, WD-40 is a temporary lubricant at best.
The negatives associated with WD-40 IMO are the overspray which any aerosol will cause and the lubricant residue left behind (although this wears off fairly quickly). I also don't care for the smell which would certainly enter the car when detailing door jambs. A quick detailer can be just as cheap to use as WD-40 (I buy mine for $16/Gallon locally) and to me really doesn't have any negatives associated with it.

The trick is, you spray it on a rag & then wipe the door jambs with it. No overspray or smell to worry about.
