Those darn Scuffs

Hello,
I have 1994 E420 with about a dozen scuff marks on it. Those kind where someone opens there car door, hits your car, doens't make a dent but leave a scuff mark on your car leaving some of there car paint on your car. How can I get these little annoying marks off. THEY DRIVE ME CRAZY!!

Thanks,
Allan

Use Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover Polish. It will take some elbow grease but it will remove the paint and mild swirl marks.

Most Auto Parts Stores will carry it, otherwise try a Auto Paint Supply that carries Meguiars.

Would the answers be different for my case?

On my car, there are several light scuff marks which can be seen on the clearcoat (over silver metallic ), but the scuffing did not leave any paint marks. In fact I think it was from someone draging some object over the surface.

Yes it will. If you want Diamond cut you need to go to an auto paint store or order it online. If you use other products you can get them at most major parts chains.

Try using Meguiar's ScratchX on a problem area first. Some claim it is the same stuff as their Diamond Cut product. It can be purchased at most auto supply stores for about $7.00 for a 7 oz. tube.

My experience with ScratchX has been amazing. I have used it on our 1995 E420 on scuffs like you describe and it was the only product that could clean them up. Oher polishes and swirl mark removers were not aggressive enough to do the job.
