The dash is leather, I have always used lemon pledge on it; not too much shine, smells good and cleans up nicely between treatments (it also makes the wood glow). Tex interior is (I'm almost sure) the material without the small holes in the material. If you look at leather, there are very small holes in the hides that let it "breath", the Tex doesn't have them. My Tex is also quite a bit stiffer then real leather, but it wears like iron. I dislike armour-all for any application, and don't use it for anything; just my $.02.

How to tell if interior is MB-Tex or real leather?

I have had my 1992 300TE 4Matic Wagon for several years now and love it. Recently though the seats have become dirty from the kids' use. I would like to clean the seats, but am not sure if the seats are real leather of MB-tex and was wondering how to tell. Also, what material is the dashboard made of and what is the best product to use to clean/refresh it? Finally, does anyone recommend the use of Armour-all for anything other than the tire sidewalls?

Antony is right about the seats, you'll see perforations in MB Tex and actual holes in the leather. If you post a picture we can confirm what it is.

If you have leather use a leather cleaner for it like Lexol. Lexol also makes a great leather protectant.

Your dashboard is actually vinyl.

Regarding cleaning the MB Tex and all the vinyls in your car I would suggest using Blue Corals Dry Clean. It's mild and a little gentle rubbing will remove the gunk.

To protect the vinyl I currently use Meguiars Vinyl Protectant (Can't remember the name). It comes in a clear red container. You apply it and then wipe off the excess. I've also heard great things about Vinylex for protection.
