Maine Wax

I saw some old post about using marine wax on car. Well I got real brave and pick up a can of 3m marine ultra performance wax. So far, the shine is better than my old mcguire gold. It is also a lot easier to put on and off. The wax also has a UV protection layer. Let's see how long it will last..
I also used a 3m marine wax and restorer on my 85 sl. It is alot better than anything I've used so far

The main concern with Marine wax is that it's designed to be used on fiberglass and has a fine "polish" built in. The 3-M and other brands have a light grit in them that will grind off a super-thin layer of the fiberglass gel-coat.

This is generally okay a few times on car paint and clear-coat, but long-term use will destroy the car paint.

(The marine wax also wears away the gel coat on boat fiberglass, but the gel coat is laid on thick enough to handle this for 25-30 years or so. Car paint won' t handle it nearly as long!)

I like the 3-M for my boat (27 years old and still the original gel coat), but I wouldn't use it on any of my Benzes.
