I'm not a big fan of the Meguiars Leather Conditioners, I've even voiced my opinnion to Meguiars directly and they said they're working on it. The problem with the Gold Class Conditioner is it leaves cream in the perforations of the leather, does a good job conditioning though. The Rich Leather spray stuff doesn't do a great job conditioning, have 3/4 full bottle which I'm now using on the furniture.

If you're going to Griots tomorrow buy their Leather conditioner, that's what I use and I absolutely love it. It will make your interior smell like a Coach store and it conditions beautifully. Follow the directions, it's not too bad to use. Griots glass cleaner is amazing stuff too.

I wish Griots was driving distance from me, I'm jealous!

PS, sorry for the double post but someone sent me an e-mail wanting to know what products I used.

BTW, use a microfiber cloth!!!!! I can't stress this enough. Otherwise, you'll be buffing till your arms fall out. A microfiber rivals a buffer for taking OFF wax. Of course, can't match a polisher for rubbing down paintwork.

Afshin,

Yup the Meguires Leather conditioner left like a sticky feel on my wifes Jeep. I'm going to Griot's today and buy thier leathere conditioner. Thank for the heads-up.

BTW - I also waxed my Toyota ..the red color really came out. I will take a pic and post it later.

The car is a 1989 with a M119 5.0L 32V DOHC engine and transmission is a 722.370 from a 500E. I did all the work myself.

Afshin: Wax for Very Hot Humid Climate!

Afshin: You said the Maguired Gold was not good for hot climates because it left streeks. Which wax product do you recommend for very hot and humid climates? Do you like Zymol?

My experience with Gold Class, or any wax for that matter, is that they streak when you apply too much product.

The point is to wax your paint, not wax your wax.

Apply it real thin, let dry so that you can remove the dried wax by swiping your finger across it, and remove with a thick terry cloth towel (100% cotton only, polyester can scratch your paint), and then make one last pass with a micro-fiber towel.

Gold Class is a fine produt, and leaves your paint extremely dark and wet looking.

Paul's right, Gold Class is excellent. It isn't the easiest product to use but if you apply it as Paul has described above you'll get good results.

I also like Meguiars NXT Tech, easier to apply and a bit more forgiving for the beginner.

Personally I think products like Zymol are overpriced and really don't offer improved performance or appearance, only exclusivity. I've used a few different Zymol products and none have wowed me. They do smell nice though

Another product which is very easy to use and looks good is S100. You can pick this up at any Harley Dealer.

I will warn you though that none of the products mentioned above offer extended protection. If you want a protectant for a daily driver I'd suggest Meguiars #20.

Good luck and post a few before and after shots

Afshin, you're alive!

Last I heard you moved to Maine.

You sold your 500E, didn't you?

Hey Paul,

We are in Maine although not sure how much longer that will be. We might be moving to MA in the next month or two if all goes well. Yeah we're getting sick of moving but I think it will be for the best.

The 500E was sold before we moved actually, last I heard the new owner couldn't bring himself to drive it regularly and wanted to sell it too! Miss that car but I needed to move on to something different. Just picked up a Marine Blue 87 Porsche 928 5Spd, what a blast that is to drive. Just imagine a 500E only 400 pounds lighter, better balanced, same power and a 5spd to boot. Obviously not nearly as well built but definitely fun. Restoring her slowly, like the 500 although this one needs a bit more work.

Here's a shot:
