Question Interior Parts. Replacement Sources.

My '87 300TD has some interior parts that needing or could use replacement. For example, one of the two plastic pieces housing the upper brake light and wiper motor's output shaft. Another is the tailgate guide plates. Where are some of the better sources for such parts? From reading the forum threads it appears to be a preference order when getting any parts is necessary. I.E. salvage first, MB last unless the part warrants the reverse. All opinions are welcome. Thanks. Steve

Try either Silver Star Recycling or Potomac German Auto.

Remember that you are buying 16 year old USED interior parts that may be very worn... check prices for new parts at the local dealer first. Some stuff might be cheaper than you expect.

Thanks for the advice on new v. used. After working this past week on various small MB projects, I certainly see the wisdom of new, when financially feasible.

I am still trying to decide what manual/cd or combination will be most beneficial. When I am looking at a broken clip or small part it would be nice to have a place to find the part number I need to order with . . .

I may have an algae problem (hints of dark particles in the clear filter) so I started testing the local parts jobbers. Diesel fuel additive to treat algae? They look at me, shake their head, and respond with, "never heard of that problem." Truck stop here I come.
Thanks
Steve

I have the CDs for the 124 and it is not a real good resource for part numbers. Neither is alldata.
