Try these guys

http://www.drinkholder.com/

I bought one that fits perfectly in the center console area,,,,,i.e. the flat area behind the power window switches. I just cut out a section of the fabric pad and put it in using the double side adhesive tape they provide. I got the zebrano wood inlay,,,,it looks like it was made for the car.

Good luck.

Get a wedgie

I came across a cup holder called a 'Wedgie' at a local discount store. You can see it here- http://www.amazon.com/Wedgie-Cup-Holder/dp/B0009N4F6I or here- http://www.saddlebags.com/Default.aspx?tabid=181.

The idea is that it is supposed to wedge between the seat and center console but on my 82 300D not only did that not hold it tightly enough it was also in the way. Then on a whim I stuck it in the map pocket and it so totally rocks there. It holds my coffee cup, cell phone, tollbooth money, portable ashtray, etc. securely and out of the way without the goofy look of something hanging off the dashboard or window ledge.

If I remember I'll take a picture tomorrow when it gets light out and add it to this thread.

I spent way too much money on a console tray cup holder from Performance Products. It works, but then you have to perform minor surgery almost to fold the thing out of the way. This thread has some excellent ideas. I'm going to try the wedgie and my fave, the duct tape roll.

I bought one a Walmart. It has a flat bottom, open sides and a lever to lock the adjustment for different sized cups. It was only $2 or $3. If I remember I'll take a picture of it. I like the PVC pipe idea!

i just built a cup holder for my 81 300d. i had a sheet of abs laying around. cut it to size to fit behind the switches.

i took a piece of 3 inch pvc and cut it to fit so the abs was flush with the window switches.

i used (im not a carpenter, im not good with tool names) a door handle drill bit, circle cutter for 3 inches.
and drilled in the center of the abs.

glued the pvc to the bottom of the hole,

while the glue was drying i cut another piece of abs to hide the gap between the top and the bottom.

once the glue dried. i melted the abs with a soldering iron to hold it perminately in place.

my neighbor wants me to build him one for his 123. i will take pics
took about 30 minutes. and i had extra time, waiting for parts to come in so i didnt mind building it. i know i could have bought one

Someone on this board used to make a center console "lid" for under the armrest out of zebra wood that matched the trim with two cupholder holes in it. Worked very well and looks good. I bought one, where is that guy?
