Vinyl bead on center arm rest on 91 300e

On my center arm rest the bead trim had a crack. I managed to use super glue and fixed it. That repair is holding well but now I have new crack on the bead. I suspect that as I repair it another new crack will apprear. I assume this is because the vinyl bead is getting hard and is no longer flexible. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use to soften up the bead to prevent further cracking? Thanks.

Take the armrest off (easy) and take it to a good upholstry shop and have the bead replaced.

That is what I am about to do with my daughter's '87 300E, which has multiple cracks.

You are fighting a losing battle. Good luck.

Thanks JoeR.

How much does it cost to have the bead replaced? I checked with an upholstery shop and I was quoted $125. Seems expensive. I will try some others.
