Wheel color-Old style

I am going to get the 300TD painted in a few weeks and wondered what color or paint code it takes to paint the wheels. The car is a 1982 also.

what wheels? silver "bundts"?

if so... im sure you CAN get an MB product,

but, you can also use:

Werth (maybe wurth) paint that MANY people use.
its a german product, and is readily available.

it should be available in both
bulk- liquid for professional use.
spray cans- for us mere mortals.

you may also want to consider a "clear" overcoat

Powder coating is expensive, specially for a small item like four wheels. We would do it in Mexico for our displays, it was only reasonable, prize wise, in large quantities.

And I don't think it's strong enough, one stone against your wheels and it will crack.

Powder coating is not very expensive ($25.00 per rim w/lug nuts). It also seems alot more durable than paint.

i know

it is called Astral Silver. you will also need a few layers of clear coat.

personally i wouldn't powder coat. 1. it is VERY expensive. 2. it isn't glossy shiny and attractive

I looked into powder coating my wheels since I have had such good results on my motorcycle, but to do a quality job here in the Los Angeles area, including clear coat but not lugs or center cap, the price was around $85 per wheel which did not make fiscal sense to me. I am gong to be using the wheel refinishing products from Griot's Garage, which has a very complete kit at a reasonable price. Everything I've gotten from them has been top quality so I'm sure the results will be fine at a price that makes sense, given the value of the car. Good luck whichever way you choose to go with your project.

There is some-kind of exchange program @ performance products. You buy there re-chromed wheels for $175 a piece and if you send in your old good wheels they refund you $100 a wheel.
They look a little ghetto, but some like that.

I just got them back and they look 100% better. They are silver but I don't know if it is the correct color but pretty close. He clearcoated them also. $125 for 5 rims and the lugnuts. I will see how long they stay nice but they look very good.

$125 for 5 rims, that's a good deal!
