Getting paint off leather

A previous owner has 'painted' the leather in my W140 S500 with some kind of coloring. Its a very thin layer but I need to ge it off so I can feed it, and re-clor properly. Any ideas - I haven't a clue what product it is.

TIA Andy

I'm not sure what the "paint" is, but it could be leather dye.

Even when dyed, if the proper leather dye was used, it still should be able to absob leather conditioner with no problem.

If you are determined to remove this layer, whatever it is, I'd be concerned that it would affect the coloring of the original leather, and you'd be forced to redye it anyway.
