need advice: undercarriage at self wash bay

I am going to go to a nearby self wash bay tomorrow.

Could you give me some advice and warning? Especially on how I wash undercarriage.

A high pressure wash is fine for undercarriage but you'll want to avoid spraying high pressure into your engine bay. Most loose dirt and debris will clean up with this type of wash and the rest you'll have to scrub to get it perfect. Have fun.

Simple Green does a superb job of disolving most of the road grime accumulated underneath the car. I usually spray it in the wheel wells and around the exhaust & spare tire area of the car and rinse after a few minutes of soaking on every washing of my car.

I still use Simple Green because I have several large bottles of it bought on sale but the orange products work better and easier. They seem to just disolve the grease and require little brushing.

If you're cleaning the wheel without actually removing it you'll want to use a wheel cleaner. Eagle One A to Z, Meguiars or P21S are all good wheel cleaners. Make sure the bottle says "For All Types Of Wheel Finishes". Follow the directions and you should get most of the grime/dirt off with a high pressure wash.

Be careful not to point the high pressure where the wheel meets the tire. MB states that water can pass through into your tire and cause damage according to Star Magazine.

Simple Green is a great product if your cleaning the undercarriage and wheel wells.
