head liner cleaning

Any special cleaners or cleaning tips for head liner in 300CE. Looking a little dull, almost like a smokers car (its not)

I use Blue Corals "Dry Clean" and a microfiber cloth. Works perfectly to remove the dark buildup that develops over the years on headliners. You can get the Blue Coral interior cleaner from any automotive chain typically.

i just used the BC product to cleanup the carpets of a recent purchase. i was pleasantly suprised with the results. didnt get everything out, but now i can go back and treat the worst areas again with a more aggressive application. it even removed most of two ink stains in the rear cargo area.

im going to try to tackle the headliner next.

one thing on the headliner: i would try to keep the liner as dry as possible while cleaning. ive heard horror stories of the "holding" glue releasing due to excessive moisture, and the resultant sagging of the headliner.

i would MUCH rather have a somewhat soiled liner than a perfectly spotless one that sags and messes up my donald trump coif!

i think i paid approx $4 for a can of the BC, which cleaned about 3/4 of a mid sized SUV.

I cleaned it with Oxy-clean, the result was OK but I decided to spray it with Vinyl paint anyway. Now it looks like new, smooth and even.

Headliner cleaner

I have had great results with Simple Green and a damp rag. Liberally spray the headliner and wipe clean. Will also get rid of those dirt and grease smudges, not to mention smoke!!

What about . . .

. . . the fuzzy trim around the doors? When I open the rear driver-side door of my C230, which has the beige/palomino interior, the trim at the top of the door opening -- right where MB put the coathook -- is dark with dirt. Would this Blue Coral work on it, or Simple Green and water?

I just bought some vinyl cleaner at the store, some industrial strength. Worked out well. No more dark fingerprints and weird stains....

You could also try a mild, diluted APC. Woolite + water diluted to about 10-1 works good too. it is also important to keep your head liner and mercedes cargo liner dry at all times, this is to avoid musty smell inside the car.

Simple Green and a toothbrush will do wonders. Yes it is tedious, but that dirt didn't show-up overnight, its going to take more then a quick spray to clean it all off.

Hows about yellow spots from the anti corrosive coating on the inside of the roof?

Get a can of "Tuff-Stuff". You can clean literally anything on that car, amazingly well. It will spot and streak the glass though. It won't harm any materials, and is non-toxic. Good stuff, been using it for years.

Those are a bit harder. Bleach is the best I could do with my 250, it lightened them up quite a bit.

So the bleach won't hurt the leather? I thought for sure I'd ruin it with it, so I never tried it.

Leather? I thought we were talking about the headliner. All of my vehicles have a type of vinyl. I used a diluted mixture of bleach and water on mine. Still test in a corner.
