W126 Drivers Side Door Panel Replacement Options?

I have a 1991 W126 (orginal owner). The drivers side arm rest on top of the door panel is now cracked. I'm told to replace the arm rest I have to replace the door panel because it's attached. Repairing the arm rest won't last according to the upholstry shop I use. Salvage yards here don't have a suitable replacement. The list price on a new MB door panel is $528.00 Can anyone here suggest any other options?

Thank you.

300sd,

Thanks. but too bad mine is Palomino. Way to expensive for a new one but looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet.

Palomino door panels come up on eBay all the time.

A national wreckers yard (Potomac, for instance) probably has them "in stock".

I replaced one of mine (1984 126 style) from a local wreckers for $75, so be patient.

Be careful when you find one as a replacement for your car must come from an 89-91 car. Also, 560's will have burlwood rather than the zebrano you have. Apologies if I am stating the obvious.

http://www.mbpartsonline.com/ gets you to Potomac. The newer ones (and driver's side, to boot) will, of course, be the expensive one. Never fails (at least with me) Good luck.

P.S. There are a couple of door panels (not the ones you need, of course) on eBay right now. At least it may give you an idea of price, availability, etc.

Does it have the speakers in the door style setup? is it zebrano wood?
thanks
