ThrillBilly:

The 98 C230 is convenient, economical, and with the folding rear seats has a more useful trunk. It is newer, has a better stereo, more features, etc etc. BUT: My wife would fight me to drive my 300E on a daily basis, and I would fight dirty to keep that from happening! Best car I have ever owned, and with the Sportline suspension, the most fun to drive!

Find a clean one soon!

We finally got a break in the foul weather. Went out to give the baby a bath. First did the show car glaze polish then I used NXT.........all I can say is WOOOOOOW!! And I did it by hand.
Wicked stuff. Smells great too LOL

The NXT passed a tough test the other day! Late for a meeting, I had to park the smoke silver 300E in the only available parking spot - under a Jakaranda tree. Two hours later I came out and the surface of the car looked like sand paper! It took 5 minutes just to get the windshield clear enough for the 30 minute drive home. I figured the hot sun and engine heat would bake the sap droplets into JB weld by the time I got home. However, 1 pass with Final Detail and a terry towel on the car (2 for the hood) and everything was as fresh as when it was detailed a month ago - it took longer to clean the remaining windows than it did to do the car. While I was at it I decided to top the single coat of NXT with the NXT Booster wax, and everything I thought was about perfect about the NXT got even better! Here are a couple of shots, though they have been shrunk from the original and don't really do justice to the reflectivity:

Very nice, John,

How unusual, though, that the wall of your garage is made of cinder blocks.

Have anyone of you who used the NXT used Zaino before? Any comparisons? I used the Zaino on my car last year and in about 3 weeks when I get my car back from the body shop (new paint on hood and blended from fenders), I will be giving the car a thorough waxing....the hood is going to look awesome, no more oxidation! Well I'm just wondering if I should just use the Zaino again (still have plenty left over) or if I should move onto this NXT stuff. The NXT won't last nearly as long as the Zaino will it?

By the way to all of you who posted pics, absolutely gorgeous cars! Regularly seeing so many neglected older Benzes flyin around making me feel like the only one who cares where I live, it's refreshing to see these cars! If I were to ever sell my car (which isn't gonna happen)....but if I did, I don't think I'd sell it to anyone but someone on this forum!

Holson.....you are the second (or third) in this string, alone, to mention that the Teal color MBs look like crap. Actually I don't see all that many of them so I can't comment a lot about that, but on a personal level my '86 300E has the shiniest finish of any car I've ever owned. NXT has brought it to an even new level of shine, and with the recent addition of factory chrome wheels you need shades on to even look at it...LOL! I'll try and get an update pic.

sorry, didn't mean to say that they look bad, just that most of them are in such neglected condition.

Last time I got a 260E Loaner car in Teal and I was so tempted to polish and wax it because it was half decent...but... oh well.. it was just a loaner car. Speaking of dull 124s... I don't see very many shiny ones left... not just the teal ones in fact. Sad sight...

btw, looking forward to pictures... *shades on*

Thumbs up

Wow... that's really shiny!

I really like the painted bumpers. It's dying for some Euro-spec headlights though Really nice!

If only I had some pics of my W202 C280.. Teal green, and amazingly shiny. I agree, if the finish of an MB in Teal has been neglected, it looks disgusting. Its just one of those colors that shows alot of road soot because it dulls, and when it dulls its obviously not clean. If its not cleaned every now and then it turns into a completely different color!
Before the wheels were switched over to the 15" AMG monoblocks from a w202 sport, our C280 had the W202 8 holes in chrome. I couldnt agree more , it could make you blind looking at it.

Plink 49- Your w124 is GORGEOUS!!!!
Now ive never ever had more staisfaction than putting tire shine on our Teal C280... it makes such a strong contrast against the green paint and the chrome wheels, as im sure you know!!

You HAVE to post a photo with those tires shined up!

Thanks..Veloce300DT..for your compliments. I agree with what you say...the color must be maintained well to look its best, moreso than most of MB colors. The PO had the bumpers paint matched which I think adds a lot to the appearance, and the match is absolutely perfect....with the exception of one "drip sag" under the rear insert. As far as the wheels go, I was hesitant to put them on because I try to keep the car as stock as possible. The chrome 8-hole was put on the 400E and 500E in 92 and 93 if I'm not wrong, and looks so classy. I have seen numerous 300Es with the chrome 15-hole and I just don't like the look.
I'd like to see a pic of your 202 with chrome wheels as I am considering them for my C220.

I'll try and get a pic as soon as possible. Is your C220 Teal?
Once I have the pic I'll let you know via PM.

Im not fond of the 15 hole allyos either. I do however see a handful of w124's with the aluminum CLK wheels, from the 97-98?? model year(s), and absolutely love it. I like the bumpers painted to match on your car!

Have a good one!
