Has anyone used this new wax yet and if so what do you think of it,and how does it compare to what you used before and tell us what that was. Thanks

I've used it several times now. When I'm not at my day job, I'm detailing cars for a select group of clients (approximately 25 and counting), so I've had the chance to use a LOT of products over the years, including Klasse, P21S, 3M, Poorboy's, etc.

NXT is a good product. Not sure that it can live up to some of the hype that's out there, but for a consumer product under $15, it's an excellent choice. The key to maximizing NXT's potential (or any last step product, for that matter) is the preparation you do BEFORE you lay it down.

That being said, if you apply NXT on to a car that really requires some additional prep, you may not be all that impressed with the results. But if you do the correct prep work, the results I've achieved are quite impressive. It's an easy-on, easy-off type product that really does leave a deep finish.

The best results I've had with NXT (so far) have been layering NXT on top of Meguiar's Hand Polish on non-metallic dark colors. My wife has a black Suburban that's non-metallic, and it really deepened the color.

As I said, it's a great off-the-shelf product for the price. Just don't expect miracles......and always remember to do your prep work!

I've been using NXT for about 6 months now and am very pleased with it. Other products I've used include S100 Carnauba, Meguiars #26, Meguiars #20, Meguiars Gold Class and Zaino Z5/Z2. I've also compared it to Souveran Carnauba. It may not protect as long as #20, or darken the finish as much as Gold Class and may not be quite as deep as Souveran (very close), but it does offer the best metallic pop of all the products I've tried and I appreciate it's easy on easy off with no dust application.

As ntwrkguy already mentioned, the key to a beautiful finish isn't the coat of wax used, it's the polishing and preparation of the paint before the wax is applied. Then it just becomes a matter of personal preference. ;)

Here's a picture of my car prepared with Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish, followed by Einzett 1Z Paint Polish and finished with Meguiars NXT. IMHO it's the best the car has ever looked.

Here's what I used exactly:

1. Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish combined with their yellow foam polishing pad and a Porter Cable 7424 Orbital on speed setting 5. I applied the polish to the paint and worked it in until nearly dry.

2. I applied the Einzett 1Z Paint Polish by hand using a yellow foam hand applicator. This step helped eliminate the haze that the DACP left behind.

3. Last I applied the NXT Tech wax using a yellow foam applicator by hand again.

After all three steps I used Final Detail to remove any dusting and enhance gloss.

Looks really good! Nice job.
We finally got a break in the weather here so time for me to wash off the winters salt. I might give this NXT a try.

i picked up a bottle of NXT ($13.xx at WM), and am trying to decide where to test it 1st. my w202 is brilliant silver, and is always garaged, so im thinking its not the best canidate. the other option is the daily SUV, which is like between smoke silver and desert sand (not flake), and is in really good shape with megs gold class right now.

ive been doing alot of research on autopia.org, and am thinking about getting the porter-cable orbital buffer and a starter kit. but, i must admit that i am more than a bit concerned about actually putting buffer to paint. :(

but maybe my fears are unfounded. its kinda like when i decided to start homebrewing: i asked the guy at the store, can i REALLY do this? reply: trust me, if the cavemen could do it, SO CAN YOU! the homebrewers motto is: relax, dont worry, have a homebrew! :D

afshin, whats it like rubbin that PC on the car the 1st time?
one bit of advice ive heard is to buy a junkyard hood to learn and try different products on it 1st. :eek: sounds like sage advice.

A Porter Cable 7424 Starters kit is an excellent investment, I know both Meguiars and Autopia have kits available at reasonable prices. If you search online you can also find the polisher without accessories for $110.00 but then you'll need to buy weights and hook/loop attachment as well as polishing and finishing pads.

PC's are not agressive at all unless used at their fastest setting with an agressive polish/compound and a firm polishing pad. Using speed settings between 4 and 5 will give you controlable results and products like Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish or 3M Finesse It II both are light duty polishes. I would practice on the Suburbans hood a couple of times to get the hang of it and then move on to your MB. You'll be surprised at the improvement in appearance even on a garage queen.

PC's are also a fast way to apply and remove wax. Use a soft finishing foam pad to apply your favorite liquid wax and then use a microfiber bonnet to remove the wax after it's hazed.

One last comment. Orbitals are really not tough to use at all, it's a Rotary Buffer you really need to be careful with. A rotary used incorrectly will result in disaster and a new paint job. Rotary's are also notorious for burning up plastic/rubber trim on the car which again usually means replacement. Orbitals are really not nearly that agressive.

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I have applied NXT to my smoke silver 1999 SL500. I am very pleased with the results. It has given me the best finish I've ever had. No doubt some of these $200 waxes would do better, but NXT only costs $15 and is dead easy to use. I prep'd my paint with Meguiars deep crystal steps 1 and 2 first. After one week, 1,000miles and a good wash, the finish looks better than ever. No pics yet.

How does NXT compare to Meguire's Gold Class? I have found that to give the deepest shine.....but it doesn't last very long.

At the last Meguiar's training day, we compared NXT to Gold Class for glossiest shine and for darkening the color of the paint, and it was hard to tell which was better. There were cases where Gold Class did a better job, and cases where NXT was better.

I'd call it a draw.

Just today tried the combination of Meguair's Deep Crystal Polish and NXT wax.....WOW! It was on my '86 300E with a dark teal paint, and the results were phenominal! Can't wait to see if it's as good on the lighter colors.

I tried NXT on my 1994 E320 this morning and was impressed. The paint looks great and the NXT was really easy to work with!
