car was keyed - help

Not long ago my car ( 72 300SEL 4.5) was badly keyed. The marks went so deep in the car that at some points its down to the metal. I think I should fill them in and sand to match the rest of surface before I have the car repainted. Could I ask what type of filler is best to use, regular bondo or even something harder. Some one suggested JB weild. What do you say?
