rust spots

My 89 190 has a few spots of spot rust coming through the paint. The paint is the original white and in great shape for the most part. What is the best way to handle these little "spots" without having to repaint the whole car?

I did repair it myself with POR-15 or RustBullet, where the rust area is not too big and the area is not on some important seal rubber position (I am unable to make the finish flat so that the seal rubber uniformly touches painted metal.).

Hi,

I have a 190 of similar vintage. I took it in to the body shop to repair rust spots on both the drivers' door and the passenger side door.

I went with the shop recommended by the dealership I frequent. It was the most expensive shop out of the two that I had quote me. I seriously am thanking myself more and more with each day that passes.

I look at my car now, and it is reborn.

I would ask yourself, what you want from the car and what you think of it.

Is it high mileage?

Are other pieces/parts in poor condition?

Is the cost of the repair a SERIOUS concern or are you simply looking for a "deal" ( )...

If the car is ragged then I would erge you to spend the money on saving for your next car.

I put the money into mine because, I am young, I am a student, and the car is in flawless condition.

I did luck out and buy from a senior so I've kept up with his ambitious maintenance schedule/program.

I've included a picture taken before I was about to reinstall the lower body cladding.

Best of luck in which ever choice you make!

Take care,

Mike McKinney

The car is definately in fantastic condition. None of the rust spots are serious just pin hole type on the surface of the paint. I only paid 2500 US for the car which was 2K below blue book and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. 189k miles and still runs strong as an ox.

Just wanted any experience anyone had with this type of rust spots.

Thanx,

Mark
