Post-Detail Upkeep?
I've just had my '95 E320 professionally detailed. They did a very nice job, but here in Arizona fine powdery dust quickly covers everything. I can gently wipe it off with a soft cloth, but of course I will also slowly wipe away the nice soft waxy feel. Can anyone recommend a product I could use after wiping off the dust, to keep the shine good? Preferably not just a spray-on wax, because I don't want to have to wait for it to haze over, and then buff it out. Just a spray-it-on, wipe-it-off sort of product, if there are any good ones.
Thanks! |

I carry a spray bottle in my car filled with a solution that's piped into my house: hydrogen dioxide, I think the brand name is H2O
Seriously, this is the best solution I've come up with. I don't like the residues or work of various "quick detail" solutions, nor the expense (since someone as anal as me about his cars will go through a lot). I spritz on a little water, wipe it off with a micro-fiber cloth, and I'm good to go. Leaves no residue and keeps me from rubbing contaminants into the paint. Emanuel |

Quick Detailing Sprays
I used to feel the same way about quick detailers as Emanuel until I used Meguiars Final Detail. At $18.00 a Gallon it is a bargain and it works amazingly well. It leaves a very slick surface behind which makes it easier to wipe the car down in the future. It also enhances gloss/shine of nearly every wax product I've used (over 15).
Meguiars is changing the name of Final Detail to Final Touch but they've stated that it will essentially will be the same product with a lighter scent. Hope so. If you want to spend some more money I would also recommend Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl. Great stuff but very expensive.

I heard a lot of good review on Meguiar's Final Detail but because it is tough to get locally I haven't tried it.
I use Eagle One Wet Wipe and Shine. I've been very happy with it. It leaves the surface very slick and enhances the gloss. And it's available locally in any auto superstore. |

I've used Meguiar's, Mothers, Eagle One, and Zaino quick spray detailers and they all work...they don't last too long but it doesn't take too long to do the car either. If you can get away with just dusting, that's great, but I try to minimize my chances to scratch the finish and do a rinse and dry before a spray detailer. I'll do it in a cool place, spritz and bare hand spread it, then wipe it off.

For dust, I spray the wheels with Meguiar's Hot Rims then rinse down the whole car. I dry off with a synthetic chamois. Then I go over the paint with Meguiar's NXT Booster wax. The whole job takes about half an hour. I do this every three or four days. The NXT Booster wax is surprisingly excellent.
