Clean-Up : Painted Brake Calipers
After installing the Evo II wheels, the nasty (after 92k mi.) calipers really needed some help
so I sanded it down as best I could and applied some high temperature black paint (no red, yellow, etc for me..) just to clean it up a little bit...

My neighbors son wire brushed his then sprayed them with a product called Rust Mort and then black Barbecue paint. They look good as I see them every week when he takes his wheels off to clean them. He did them last year and its held up

Holson what brand of high temp paint did you use. The paint finish looks very similar to the finish which came on the factory rear calipers. If my car doesn't sell I want to eventually paint the calipers. Here is a shot of the rear caliper after it's been cleaned up, the finish on yours looks similar it seems.

Forgot to ask, did you remove the caliper when you painted it? Was the paint in a spray can or did you brush it on? If brushed on what kind of brush did you use?
BTW nice wheels and the calipers look great!!!

That is... CLEAN! wow... no wonder the car won those awards! btw, the paint I used is Dupli-Color (brand) High Heat with Ceramic .. (phew) and the color is BLACK DH1602 I got it at Autozone or something.. I actually didn't take the calipers off as I just want it to look better through the big open areas of the Evo wheels so I covered the discs and stuff up and just sprayed as much of the caliper as I could. haven't done the rear calipers yet as they still don't look too bad.. and i'm too lazy. I probably will eventually. when I do the rears I think I will buy a wire brush for my dremel and use that to really clean things up before painting.. Thanks for the comments

Holson - What kind of Sandpaper did you use to clean the caliper? Did you just sand it down or did you clean the caliper as well?
Also - when you sprayed the paint, was it a controlled flow or was there a lot of overspray Looks great!!

I used some 220 grit sandpaper and lots of steel wool.
After I did that, I used some alcohol/water mix and cleaned things up a little bit. I don't think there was much overspray as I covered the areas that I did not want any paint on (i.e.. discs ) thanks
