Interior odor
I purchased a '98 E300 two weeks ago. Car has 48k miles and appears to be in great shape. One thing has become an issue in the last couple of days. The interior (MBTex) has developed a rancid smell - sort of a cross between cat urine and mildew. It became very strong after I washed and waxed the car. The seats don't seem to be the source - it just kind of hangs there. I was wondering if perhaps the filters for the ventilation system could use changing. I had the car inspected and there was not any evidence of flood damage (a concern of mine since the car was originally purchased in Houston). Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Activated charcoal in filter pouches would help. Ever try "Fabreeze" spray? Lastly, you might be able to rent an ozone generator that's used to remove odors.

I use the Csonka original and have had excellent results. I am a cigar smoker and you would never know after using this little unit.
