Rebuilt 617 mosquito murderer conversion!
I finally started up the rebuilt engine in my SD this weekend and it sounds great. Also, I murdered most of the mosquitos in my neighborhood with the smoke. The more I ran it, the less smoke and the better it ran, but after a good 15 minutes of idling, it still smokes a lot. Can old fuel, minor air entrapment or minor IP timing variance cause a great deal of smoke? It's really a lot, and the idle speed surges between about 800-1600 RPM. I know that some initial smoke can be expected, but this seems like a lot

Sometimes they just smoke until they have run out at speed for a while.

Old Deis, you're suggesting I murder some bugs living along the highway?

I say kill them all! Couldn' t be any worse for us all than Black Flag, could it?
|
no, I guess not. It gives me an idea though. If I get pulled over, I'll just say that I am performing my civic duty, free of charge.

Especially kill those bugs of the West Nile kind.

Make sure all of the filters and fluids are fresh and than take her for a nice long high rpm run. Mine love to wind up to 4k on the highway it runs so much better afterwords.
