Question Carquest/Autozone rear axle updates?

Hi,

I just discovered your board a week ago and have been completely immersed in reading all the information that people have contributed to this forum. My W123 has just torn an axle boot and I am ready to repair it. In my various searches through the site, I noticed that some of you have replaced your axles with Carquest/Autozone rebuilt shafts and others have mentioned that the rebuild quality of these shafts is not very good. I would just like to have a follow up opinion from those of you who have replaced your axles with these brands over the past couple of years. Are you still happy with the decision? For those of you who don't like the brands above, have these brands gotten any better, in your opinion, or are they still marginal purchases? Thanks in advance for any help.

Tom

You might also want to check out NAPA as they also have rebuilds and as some others they have a lifetime warranty. Just to give you some additional choices.

I replaced the axles in my wagon with Carquest replacements about 3,000 miles ago...good so far!

I think I have about 20K on my reman axles. One from PepBoys and one from Carquest. No issues and none expected. Easy fix and fairly cheap. RT
