That's what I've been thinking too. Initially, the IP was at 22ATDC and the power was just terrible, and it took a lot of cranking and the block heater to start it. So, when I noticed how far off it was, I realized I'd have to pull the pump out to get it to 24BTDC, but the thought never occurred to me that I might be 134 degrees out of phase with the cam rather than 46! It all seems to make sense now, because when I moved the IP to be at 24BTDC, I was now 180 degrees out of phase with the cam. After seeing everything that is inside this engine, if any engine could run with fuel timing almost anywhere, this would be it.

Leather,
Bonfires of dead limbs: that's what old tires are for. P E H |
PEH, only if one can find old polyester tires....not STEEL belted tires... or you have a mess to clean up afterwards... which if you don't find them will wind up wrapped around your bushhog spindle... burning up your friction clutch.... and maybe starting a grass fire out where you did not want a fire....
Country life is not simple.... no matter what Paris Hilton thinks... |
Then there's the concern of years later forgetting that tires were burned there and planting potatoes on the site. Picking shot out of a duck isn't much different than deboning shad - you expect to. But steel belt shards in a spud? That would come in below my radar screen:eek:

Bushhog... a Texas version of a Wild Boar but not grown in forests... they live around scrub mesquite but are so tough they just run through it instead of going around.
Some of them are built too low to the ground ... so their SPINDLE works like a plow... picking up stuff as they run.... so if you leave things like circles of steel from old burnt tires they wind up running around with that caught on their SPINDLE.... YOU KNOW... THEIR SPINDLE.... ( think Plow)..... and they don't need any Viagra ... it is pointing forward anyway.... |
Well..........so..........that's a bushhog, heh?
I don't believe I could have figured that one out, LOL.:D |
I am just glad they are not like our suicide Armadillos... who go onto the road and wait for a car.... then jump as high as they can trying to hit the radiator.... really makes a mess.... but they have not got their timing right yet... due to the indescriminate deletion from the gene pool of all the jumpers....

...................and I am the one who needs to get a job?????:D

OK, back on track.
Pete, did you get that 617 running properly or are we all going to have to come down on Sunday and help you?:D |

Likewise, and I bet you'll recognize the only engine mod as soon as I pop the hood
