1978 240D Glow Plug timer
I did a search and know the glow plug timer for a 1978 is not located on the inner fender like newer ones , but I can't find a post that says where it is. Where is it located?
Thanks, Dan |

I can't answer your question, but if you look at the pre-glow timer relay pictured in FastLane you might be able to locate it once you know what it looks like.

I looked at the picture in Fastlane , I am assuming if it isn't under the hood ; it is under the dash. There are three metal enclosed relays under the dash that look like the picture. Any ideas? I jumped twelve volts to the glow plugs and the car starts so I figure the relay is the problem.

Did you check the 50 amp fuse mounted on the fire wall? I would change it even if it looks OK

Are you sure it is not there? I checked my 78 300D and the timer is mounted on the left side inner fender.
Maybe teh easy way is to trace the wires from the glow plugs back to the timer. There may be a fuse block on the fire wall, just behind the motor, there will be wires going from there to the timer also. |
