Money owed by Mech...ignored. what to do?
Hello,
Anyway, a mechanic in SF (I'm now in LA) owes me money for a job not done properly...said if I sent proof from another mechanic work was faulty he would pay....I sent him the estimates from the other mechanic stating part was broken and no working, etc. I sent him back a copy of receipt that I paid to him...With obvious areas of payment due...said I expected something in 10 days, this was on July 4. I called 15 days later, left a nice message, saying I hadn't received anything, etc.....NOW I'm Pissed Off, THis guy is completely ignoring me and has no intention of sending anything!...I left a message on his machine telling him I am reporting him to the Bureau of Automotive Repair, And to the EPA (he changed my AC on my diesel to updated freon, but did not put on the right connectors, among other things I'm told)...I am furious , what can I do?.....Will reporting him to these agencies just create a mound of paper work for me and I still will not get any money refunded?...I am sure if I was a big burley man in SF this would never happen!...I refuse to let him get away with this. I'm looking for work in LA and don't have extra cash to lose, and I don't want to put in a lot of time and energy in something if he in some way is not affected by it. He told me when the part broke that he would refund me with proof, and now with proof requesting a refund, he's avoiding me. |

lots to do
Call and order a ton of parts for his shop from local distributors. Call and shut off his phone look up his home address and if he is married send a box of candy with a card signed love Carroll tell him you wont stop till he refunds your money you can get real nasty with tricks like this. Don’t laugh I went as far as hooking up a phone outside the house to make sex calls and cause hell in a guys marriage he finally paid plus my cost for some of the dirty tricks but I went way too far and a bit over the edge I had just been ripped off one time too many

I like the way you think........
Yup,
OFF TOPIC.....BUT once I was involved with a married man....He didn't wear a ring; had an apt in SF, told me "hadn't found the right woman", etc, etc.....Turns out, Married for 20 yrs, House in Fremont, 2 kids, lied to me onwards of 9 months....I had an Orange VW Convertible with an emblame on it so it was very distinct .. .Parked it in front of his house in Fremont. He knew it was my car, didn't know I knew...HE Sweated Bullets....Just left it there for a couple days.... Called the company secretary instead of his line asking her to please have him call his "girlfriend", he had left something at my apartment. Of course the whole office knew asap that the "happily married man" was stepping out. The relationship or whatever it was ended and my heart was broken. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned..... Thanks for the advice. |

if you'd like to maintain the high ground...
I like to follow the suggestions of our local consumer advocate, Clark Howard. Perhaps you've heard of him. He's got a syndicated radio show on which he counsels people who have problems like yours. Generally, he reccommends a certified letter outlining your case and a very short deadline for response from the recipient. The letter should include your intended course of action, including legal action. He has a website www.clarkhoward.com and a staff of lackeys whose job it is to solve problems like this. Give a call! Or..... call up your local TV video-blackmail artist. You know, the 'consumer advocate' or 'on your side' or 'call for action' or whatever other cheesy title they give the segment... Basically when you've tried a bunch of stuff, and nothing has worked, the media can be a powerful motivator. The offender wants to look like a good guy on TV, so they usually go along with whatever you want and more. And, the anchor can nod approvingly as it all goes down. yeah, video blackmail!!!

"Generally, he reccommends a certified letter outlining your case "
This is a new post about a problem she asked about earlier..and this was what I told her at that time.... " a very short deadline for response from the recipient. " Most small claims courts require that you give the recipient 30 days to respond. |

Problem:
If you go back and read your first post, all options were given.
You are now surprised he is a flake? If you want to play games take Daves way. Will it get you any money. No . And the fact that you are a woman. This guy would screw his own mother and she is a woman. And any guy he can. Judge him by his actions. This is all a matter of how much time you want to waste. The money is gone. But you can spend more proving your right. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the guy that installed an AC system without your permission? My question is if so WHY did you pay him in the first place? |
