Question Ebay: 300TD ???

Just curious -- this 300TD on Ebay doesn't have the same air filter assy. that my '84 does. Was this simply a variance between the '82 and '84 model years? Just wondering, as mine as the big round filter housing over the turbo. Maybe that tube on the lower left in the engine pic is a K&N type filter elbow?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6330&item=2485951449&sspagename=rvi%3A1%3A3

Seems like the bidding is a bit high for a car with that much rust, but I guess that bodes well for me (as mine is just as rusty!).

Thanks!

Chris

No that's not the same air filter. You can find this system on ebay by looking under parts and searching exhaust and mercedes. It's around $115-$140 for the kits.

That one has what is sold on ebay as a "performance kit" intake. It gets rid of the stock air cleaner assembly with the bracket that breaks pretty regular. I ran one of these performance kits on one of mine for a period of time and made it suck the oil down and I ended up putting the stock system back on.

You will find that the W123 diesel wagons bring a premium.

That's a weird car.

Turbo 617 but with Euro bumpers and manual a/c controls? Certainly not something that Stuttgart built...more likely a Gray Market 240TD (or 300TD) that got a 617.952 transplant. Also, the title says 82 because it is an 82, not some 'clerical' error. Those are 5-pleat seats that were used until the end of 1982.

Wrong battery too.

Nothin too weird, I forgot that the turbo was offered in Europe, just not ever with a manual tranny. S

Did you look at the sellers feed-back! I wouldn't buy a skate board from this guy!
