Aftermarket overdrive for a 240d?
Has anyone heard of this or given it a try? In the early '70's there was a big push to convert cars to diesel by guys like Tony Capana using Perkins and other engines. One of the things they recommended was adding an overdrive to the tranny to essentially double the gears.
Are there any aftermarket overdrives out there that would work on a 4 speed 240d? |

Have you ever looked underneath a 123?
You better be a good magician because there's doggone little room under there for anything but what's already under there.
BTW, this was covered about a year ago too. Search on 'overdrive,' you'll find the thread.

First you need to " search" for enough power to use another gear...
I remember those days.... Holman and Moody put a turbo Perkins into a Mercury Capri.... It is true that on those deals that " gearing is everything".... |
