Vacuum pump looked ok...
Here is a picture of the vacuum pump I removed today. Is there another set of bearings that I dont see. The picture shows bearings intact and the bearing turn freely etc..
Thanks for all input. Dan |

Actually that looks like it should. When the bearing failes it also tears up the carrier that holds the bearing.
I guess it is possible that the pieces you found were from the previous vacuum pump that your car had. The plastic pieces in your original picture looked just like the material holding the balls in the bearing. I'm sure when a lot of mechanics etc. change out a failed VP that they dont pull the pan and remove the lost parts. I don't guess you have it running yet then? Stephen

not running
No its not running. I was thinking the same thing and I told my wife my theory and was waiting for someone to confirm that. And I guess you did. I suppose what I will do is put it all together, and suspect my pressure relief valve on the oil pump is responsible for no oil pressure since it looks like the vacuum pump before, grenaded, and the oil pan was never dropped - And hope for the best...I will return...I wish I could say my mb experiece has been a good one. If it runs though, I will probably sing its praises.
